Each country must deinstall violence from public policies and institutions in order to:

1

Ensure quality, violence-free education for girls.

  • Schools should be protective and safe spaces, with inclusive and adequate school infrastructures that promote, in the school community, reflection and awareness of the unequal gender norms that perpetuate violence against girls.
  • In addition, States have an obligation to increase funding for education to at least 6% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), so that they can guarantee the right to education for all girls and boys.
2

Create accessible, confidential and appropriate reporting and response mechanisms to violence

  • Victims are never to blame and the focus should be on the aggressor. Existing legal and protective structures often fail to protect the privacy of victims, discouraging reporting of violence.
  • Promote the learning of the educational authorities of the diverse community cultures of their countries.
3

Develop robust protection systems against violence that coordinate and involve the justice, social services, health and education sectors.

  • To encourage the reporting of cases of violence and end impunity for perpetrators.
  • It is also necessary to promote coordinated work between the Convention on the Rights of Women (CEDAW) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) to make the protection of girls a priority.
  • Promote the learning of the educational authorities of the diverse community cultures of their countries.
