Jorge Santafé Maibach Foundation

The The Jorge Santafé Maibach Foundation was created on June 27, 2002 with the desire to maintain the presence and memory of Jorge Santafé in the lives of his family and friends. The Foundation’s social purpose is to support the construction of schools to help the most disadvantaged people escape poverty, as well as other projects with the same purpose.

Since 2020, the Santafé Maibach Foundation has been collaborating with Entreculturas on construction projects of various kinds. So far, this collaboration has been directed to projects in Chad and Malawi:

In Chad, with Fe y Alegría ChadIn addition, support was provided to improve technical training for the vulnerable population at the N’Djamena Technical and Vocational Training Center (CFTP) by building a second floor that houses two classrooms, a computer room, three offices for teachers and administrative personnel, and three toilets.

In Malawi, we worked together with JRS, the Jesuit Refugee Service. The project has been implemented in the Umodzi Katubza elementary school in the Dzaleka refugee camp, guaranteeing the basic infrastructures necessary to offer quality education to children who are victims of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo and insecurity in other countries such as Burundi and Somalia. The support of the Santafé Foundation enabled the construction of a new two-classroom block to accommodate 100 new students, and the construction of a fence to make the school a safe space for children and teachers.

We are currently working on new projects on which we will be focusing our efforts in the coming months.
