| | Haiti: hurricanes season half a year after the earthquake | | | Last 12th July it was the sixth anniversary of the earthquake that killed 220.000 people and left more than un million of Haitian people without a place to live. Half a year later, the situation hasn't been resolved for the survivors of the island. With the arrival of hurricanes and raining season, people living in the camps are afraid that their conditions of living would get worse and they complain about the lack of help from the Haitian State. Read+ | | |  | | | The "1 Goal: Education for All" campaign also wins the 2010 FIFA World Cup By now everybody knows the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner but, how many people have heard about "1 Goal: Education for All" victory? This initiative, supported by th Global Campaign for Education and the FIFA organization, has got a large numer of achievements during the football celebration: 14 million of signatures, 1 million of followers every week and 100.000 of yelow cards sent to the international leaders. All of this witout mentioning the first World Leaders Summit related to a sportive event, which took place mid July in South Africa. "We reaffirm the validity of the State Pact against Poverty and we promise to make the International Cooperation policy a real State policy". With those words, all the political parties with parliamentary representation have subscribed in Madrid the statement resulting from the fourth Monitoring Committee of the State Pact against Poverty. Accompanying forcibly displaced people in the city means visiting them at home, getting to know and attending to their multiple unmet needs, including help o get documentation, food, access to healthcare, education, and cash to pay the rent. It means creating safe opportunities for them to meet, for children and teenagers to play and study together, instead of spending all the time in their small, often overcrowded homes. Download | | |
