Entreculturas takes part in the first public-private alliance for development in Peru

For the first time ever in Spain, NGOs, companies and civil service have signed a Statement of Intent about to constitute a public-private alliance for development in Peru.

At the beginning of July, Entreculturas, represented by our Institutional Relations Coordinator, Mª Jesús de la Fuente Guitart, wrote her signature together with the maximum authorities of Ayuda en Acción, Jaime Montalvo Correa; Fundación Ecodes, Víctor Viñuales; Solidaridad Internacional, Juan Manuel Eguiagaray; Grupo Santillana, Emiliano Martínez Rodriguez; Fundación Microfinanzas BBVA, Manuel Méndez del Río Piovich; Telefónica Internacional, José María Álvarez Pallete, and the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Soraya Rodríguez.

The aim of this alliance is to take part in a process of integral development at Acobamba province, located in the Andean region of Huancavelica, Peru, whose ambassador, Jaime Cáceres Sayán, was also present at the signing of de accord.

In this way, three large enterprises expressed their willingness and made the commitment to start working in concrete experiences together with NGOs and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation in favour of a fighting strategy against poverty and social exclusion, also in dialogue with the Peruvian civil service and society. This is an unprecedented achievement in Spain with the purpose to get more efficiency and impact by placing in common their resources, technical and financial capacities, getting therefore an experience that could be repeated to work in other regions of the world.

Once the Action Proyect in the Peruvian province is formulated, the responsibilities of each signatory -amongst them Entreculturas- will be detailed. A first stage of institutional commitment in the fight against poverty has been closed.
