They both carried out an important work in this African country, promoting the education, health and social projects of the Society of Jesus in order to improve the development and well being of the population.

According to the official statement of the Portugal Society of Jesus Provincial, a group of strangers entered the building with the intention of stealing and caused the death of these two people, wounding Brother José Araujo de Andrade, 76, from Mozambique. After the attack, they fled taking with them the residence's cars.
