Forgotten crises: when the media change their focus
Although they may seem ended, there are still many conflicts active in the world…When the media stops covering a crisis, it seems to be solved and it disappears immediately from our conscience. However, to forget this is unjust and irresponsible. In Entreculturas we want to remember the forgotten crises which continue silently to end the life and dignity of millions of people. Read+

Darfur, a third of its population are refugees
Darfur is a region in North West Sudan, bordering with Libya, Chad and the Central African Republic. Since 2003 approximately, Darfur has a brutal ethnic conflict with more than 85.000 dead by the Sudanese government, Yanyauid military groups and other armed groups. 200.000 people have died of hunger and diseases; two million internally displaced and 200.000 have fled from Chad, live in refugee camps where water, food and medicines are scarce. Why is education necessary in crisis situations?
Although some education programmes are overrun in emergency situations, they are most important for different reasons. In addition to the fact that all children have a right to education, even in humanitarian crises, education is also fundamental for the affected populations to recover normal life. The same as is the food, shelter and sanitary facilities. Read+

The hard work of the JRS in Darfur
In face of the Darfur crisis, Entreculturas is supporting the work that the JRS is carrying out with more than 6.600 boys and girls in the rural areas of El Fasher, where the education and psychosocial needs are very high. The JRS tries to give all these children access to education and hope. In addition to this project, our organization plans to support again this year the work of the JRS in the refugee camps of Kounoungou, Farchana and Touloum in Chad, the neighbouring country where 200.000 people have been forced to find refuge. The State of the World's Refugees 2006
"The State of the World's Refugees is extremely timely in highlighting the work necessary to achieve refugee rehabilitation. It presents a detailed study of the plight of refugees the world over. It reviews efforts designed to ensure the safety and basic human rights of millions of displaced people. Above all, it places humanitarian action in its broader political context by examining the effects of increased national security concerns and migratory flows on asylum seekers, refugees and internally displaced
persons worldwide". (Kofi Annan). Download

JRS Report on Destitute Forced Migrants in Europe: “We are dying silent”
TThis report draws conclusions from the interviews carried out by JRS officials in Europe to 54 immigrants and NGOs and other organizations in10 European countries. They examined the situation of those who live in abject poverty, victims of exclusion and with limited social support by the State. The forced displaced migrants to whom the residence permit to remain in Europe has been denied, do not normally return to their country, since for some of them this would imply a serious danger to their lives. Others do not have the necessary papers to travel or their own countries of origin do not accept them. Without State support they would end up in misery. Download
