And the importance of schools as instruments of peace and understanding between people of different formation, race, culture and religion. Likewise, January 30 is the anniversary of the death of the spiritual and national Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi, murdered by a Buddhist fanatic. Write to us! | |  | The aftermath of the Kenyan elections has divided the country Elias Omondi, Director for the Jesuit Hakimani Centre in Nairobi, supported by Entreculturas, gives us his impressions on the Kenyan crisis which has already left more than three hundred dead and around 75.000 displaced people. Homes in flames, blocked roads, looted stores and great violence is taking place in Nairobi, whose population is divided into two electoral contenders. After the formal approval of Chad's membership in the International Fe y Alegría Federation last November, Fe y Alegría will start working in Chad in 2008. Two Entreculturas volunteers, Brunilde and Diamantina will travel to Chad at the end of this month to spend a year there, helping the local team. On one hand “Getting Close to the South” which aims to look at other less favoured people with whom Entreculturas works. On the other hand, the photographs of “Between Africa” show the continent in a hopeful and dignified, positive way. Finally the “Long Wait to Return” addresses the hardships of the refugee camps where to return home is still a distant dream. Our delegations will show these works throughout Spain.
