We support the work that the JRS is carrying out in order to facilitate tents, food, water and sanitary aid and assistance to the population that is housed at present in primary schools, churches and police stations. We also focus on the psychological assistance, something which all aid agencies consider a priority.

"An important problem is the growth in sexual violence mainly directed to women, boys and girls in Kenya, including Nairobi. Many people, specially children have been traumatized by the violence and require psychological support," according to Anne Peters, responsible for incidents at JRS East Africa.

It is these populations, vulnerable among the vulnerable, on which the JRS is focusing its activity. Boys under 7, women and people with VIH.

Hope for Peace. From Entreculturas we continue to support the Jesuit Hakimany Centre in Nairobi, from where its director Elias Osmondi, tells us that "beyond the violence we have heard some stories of how people and families, beyond their ethic and political differences, have shown their solidarity and have shared their scarce resources. These stories have not been shown in the media, but are a real sign of hope for the future of the country.

This Centre believes that they need to work towards peace understood in a wider sense than the absence of violence.  Peace as a situation in which there is harmony in the life of people in the social, economic, political  and religious areas.
