When international debates focus on the economic crisis, the Spanish Alliance reminds that this year there are more than 100 million more people suffering hunger and more than 1.000 million live under the threshold of poverty. Mae Blanco, Eduardo Sánchez and Marina Navarro, the Spanish Alliance against poverty spokesmen have said "The crisis is social and environmental and has been generating poverty and exclusion problems in vast layers of the world´s population for decades."

"The international crisis has affected mostly the poorest countries. Those less responsible for the crisis are the ones most suffering it. The situation here is complicated but in the impoverished countries of the South it is more so. In this context we have to demand that once and for all, the rich countries dedicate 0,7% to Aid for Development" says Eduardo Sanchez, President of the DNGO Coordinator in Spain.

On the other hand, Marcos Casal Cao, of the musical group La Sonrisa de Julia, and David Otero, of El Canto del Loco, ended the demonstration singing "El Grito de mi Generación", the song they have created with Juan Suárez, from El Sueño de Morfeo and Dani Martín to support the fight against hunger.

The Spanish Alliance against poverty has promoted for the fifth year running a raising awareness week (from October 13 to 18), activities to mobilize citizens and demand political world leaders their commitment to fight against poverty and its causes.
