The “1 Goal: Education for All” campaign also wins the 2010 FIFA World Cup

By now everybody knows the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner but, how many people have heard about "1 Goal: Education for All" victory? This initiative, supported by the Global Campaign for Education and the FIFA organization, has got a large number of achievements during the football celebration: 14 millions of signatures, 1 million of followers every week and 100.000 of yellow cards sent to the international leaders. All of that without mentioning the first World Leaders Summit related to a sportive event, which took place mid July in South Africa. Leer+

The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation supports Entreculturas’ work in education with two new agreements

Entreculturas and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) have signed two new collaboration agreements, thanks to which the Agency will fund part of our projects during four years. In the North, with de Global Campaign for Education (GCE), as well as in the South, with the Improvement of Education Quality for the Social Integration of Vulnerable Population in Latin America, the final aim of these agreements is the same: ensure that, as soon as possible, every child of the world can exercise their right to go to school. Haití: hurricanes season half a year after the earthquake

Last 12th July it was the sith anniversary of the earthquake that killed 220.000 people and left more than un million of Haitian people without a place to live. Half a year later, the situation hasn't been resolved for the survivors of the island. With the arrival of hurricanes and raining season, people living in the camps are afraid that their conditions of living would get worst (worse) and they complain about the lack of help from the Haitian State. Entreculturas takes part in the first public-private alliance for development in Peru

Public and private sectors will join forces in Spain to fight poverty in Peru. Entreculturas, with Ayuda en Acción, Ecodes and Solidaridad Internacional, signed last month the first Statement of Intent about the constitution of a public-private alliance for development in the Peruvian province Acobamba. Telefónica Internacional, Fundación Microfinanzas BBVA and Grupo Santillana were the three companies who undertook to work for this goal, together with de Secretary of State for International Cooperation. Sunday, June 20, is the World Refugee Day and Entreculturas remembers that South Africa in its World Cup celebration, has not taken into account all the players. The increase in temporary visas and asylum applications while the need of labour force for the World Cup, shows once again, the precarious and vulnerable conditions that the urban refugees live in. The rainstorm Agatha leaves more than 150 dead in Guatemala

The eruption of the Pacaya volcano and the rainstorm Agatha have left a total of 156 dead in Guatemala and losses are estimated up to 55,5 million Euros. Fe y Alegría Guatemala, Entreculturas local partner, reports that parts of its schools that have not been affected, are being used as refuge and food storage. Leer+
