[March 8, International Women’s Day] Co-education, an education in equality
The fact that a boy may cry or that a girl may have as references women presidents, astronauts or housewives, is not yet a reality but it is however essential for the person's development. With the occasion of International Women's Day, this March 8, we propose co education as an effective tool to fight sexism and allow people, since they attend school, to choose who they want to be, regardless of their social environment. Hogar de Cristo Project, woman as citizenship builder
Entreculturas has received the visit of Luis Távara, Deputy Director of the Hogar de Cristo, an institution which we support and that is slowly becoming a reference of social articulation and committed to women as agents of development in Ecuador, a country where more than half of the population survives with less than one dollar per day, 1.400.000 people lack housing, 50% of the children under 5 suffer some type of malnutrition and 12% of the population is illiterate. “Education for Citizenship and Human Rights” our bet for a pedagogy of transformation
During the months of February, March and April, Entreculturas together with the editorial house Anaya, is presenting in almost all the Spanish autonomic communities the guide "Education for Citizenship and Human Rights" which we have elaborated as a didactic proposal for this subject. Refugee Women standing for Peace in Kenya during World Women's Day
For many years, Kenya has been receiving and hosting refugees from different countries. Due to the post-election violence all of a sudden Kenya was confronted with a unique situation with almost half a million Kenyans being displaced. Although IDPs are returning to their homes after a power sharing deal was signed between the government and the opposition, there are still many people in camps unable to return. Also people have been traumatised by the events and need more support. Read+

Six proposals for dialogue and action

In the framework of the recently launched campaign “Commitment with Education”, the International Fe y Alegría Federation has published this report in coordination with its team of Public Action Programme, to propose a series of thoughts and to promote dialogue with other organizations, governments, education communities and society in general in order to promote an change of focus in education policies. “We think that only with broad social agreements, sustainable State policies can be generated, that will impact significantly in the education change we need”. A better education for a better society

The current publication gathers a series of articles on the issues that have become priorities for any transformation process in education in Latin America and Caribbean. Aware of the need of a deep debate on education problems and solutions, the International Fe y Alegría Federation has gathered, in this volume, authors with different thinking who have the theory and experience in common and the commitment for education transformation for all society and especially for those who suffer the consequences of an unequal and exclusive society.
