Hogar de Cristo Project, woman as citizenship builder
Entreculturas has received the visit of Luis Távara, Deputy Director of the Hogar de Cristo, an institution which we support and that is slowly becoming a reference of social articulation and committed to women as agents of development in Ecuador, a country where more than half of the population survives with less than one dollar per day, 1.400.000 people lack housing, 50% of the children under 5 suffer some type of malnutrition and 12% of the population is illiterate. Refugee Women standing for Peace in Kenya during World Women's Day
For many years, Kenya has been receiving and hosting refugees from different countries. Due to the post-election violence all of a sudden Kenya was confronted with a unique situation with almost half a million Kenyans being displaced. Although IDPs are returning to their homes after a power sharing deal was signed between the government and the opposition, there are still many people in camps unable to return.
